Whole Dried Cloves
Cloves are the dried flower buds of the evergreen Syzgium aromaticum. A very popular spice for baking, cloves also have some medicinal properties.
The most well-known use for cloves is for relief of toothaches. The whole cloves can be chewed or clove oil can be applied directly to the problem spot for its analgesic and numbing effects. This remedy should never be used on a child’s toothache unless very diluted as it is too strong for their sensitive mouths.
Cloves are also a known stimulant and have a warming effect on the body. They are helpful for improving blood circulation, making this a good herb to add to the diet for heart health. Cloves can also be chewed whole or added to herbal teas for digestive help, working as a laxative and as relief of nausea.
